Preliminary DFIRM

To view and print a portion of the Preliminary version of the Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) for Hancock, Harrison, or Jackson County, choose a county from the map or select a county from the drop-down list below. You will be redirected to the FEMA Map Service Center Web site, where you can select a portion of the DFIRM and print a full-scale section called a FIRMette.

In addition to the selected portion of an individual panel, a FIRMette also includes the map title block, north arrow, and scale bar. There is no charge for making a FIRMette. Because a FIRMette is a full-scale section of an official National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map, it can be used in all aspects of the NFIP, including floodplain management, flood insurance, and enforcement of mandatory flood insurance purchase requirements. To assist interested users in learning how to create a FIRMette, the Map Service Center created a useful tutorial. The technique covered by the tutorial also can be used to create FIRMette versions of the newly effective DFIRMs for Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson Counties.

Another option to view and download large-scale files of the Preliminary versions of the DFIRMs and associated Flood Insurance Study reports for Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson Counties is to visit the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Web site. This site also contains meeting dates and related materials. (DFIRMs in PDF format, file size 10MB to 60MB). The newly effective DFIRMs are not available on the MDEQ Web site; the newly effective DFIRMs are only available for viewing or download through the Map Service Center Web Site.
