This page has been designed to provide information to representatives of the following groups who may not be actively involved in mitigation and reconstruction activities in the Gulf coast region of Mississippi about the project undertaken by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and related activities:

Selected resources are summarized and linked for viewing/downloading below.  Interested parties also may obtain CD-ROM and/or printed paper copies of many of these resources by contacting a Customer Service Representative from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1-866-816-2804.

  • FEMA 549, Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast:  Mitigation Assessment Team Report, Building Performance Observations, Recommendations, and Technical Guidance, July 2006—This resource provides an overview of the work performed by a Mitigation Assessment Team deployed by FEMA’s Mitigation Division in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to evaluate building performance during the hurricane and the adequacy of current building codes, construction requirements, and building practices and materials.

  • Long-Term Community Recovery Plan for Hancock County— This plan, adopted by the local government officials in Hancock County, identifies rebuilding and restoration projects in the areas of housing, economic development, infrastructure, public services and facilities, and emergency services.

  • Long-Term Community Recovery Plan for Harrison County—This plan, adopted by the local government officials in Harrison County, identifies rebuilding and restoration projects in the areas of housing, economic development, infrastructure, public services and facilities, and emergency services.

  • Long-Term Community Recovery Plan for Jackson County —This plan, adopted by the local government officials in Jackson County, identifies rebuilding and restoration projects in the areas of housing, economic development, infrastructure, public services and facilities, and emergency services.
